Authority for Conducting exams for GST Practitioners, The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (“CBIC”) vide Notification No. 24 /2018 – Central Tax dated May 28, 2018, has decided that the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, as the authority to conduct the examination for GST Practitioners as per the said sub-rule. G.S.R. … (E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by section 48 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 (12 of 2017) read with sub-rule (3) of rule 83 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Rules, 2017, the Commissioner, on the recommendations of the Council, hereby notifies the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, as the authority to conduct the
examination as per the said sub-rule.

About NACIN
The National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) previously known as National Academy of Customs Excise and Narcotics (NACEN) is the highest training institute of Government of India for capacity building of civil servants in the field of indirect taxation, particularly the areas of customs, GST, central excise, service tax and narcotics control administration. Located at Faridabad, near India’s capital New Delhi, the Academy is operated under the aegis of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
The Academy’s flagship programme is the training of officers of the indirect taxation branch Indian Revenue Service, better known as IRS (Customs & Indirect Tax) which administers GST, Customs and Narcotics. These officer trainees, also known as direct recruits, are selected through the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
